☕️ Welcome to the Brew

Hello February. The month of half-term plotting, Valentine’s side-quests, and the first proper signs that winter might eventually loosen its grip. If you are out and about this week, keep an eye out for the early snowdrops too. They are basically nature’s way of saying, “hang in there, we’re rendering spring.”

Our Roaster’s Choice is COWfest: a city-wide children and families festival with The Arc at the centre and partner venues across Winchester, packed with shows, crafts, music and inclusive activities (plus free entry for children at The Great Hall and Winchester City Museum). Elsewhere this week, there’s big-stage drama and cinema classics, a splash of science comedy at the Cathedral, and a strong Saturday night line-up with Suzi Ruffell and Mark Morriss (The Bluetones).

Have a brilliant week, and if you spot something we should include next time, hit reply and tell us what’s brewing.

Roastie is a charming older dog who is looking for a loving new home to spend his retirement years.

😄 The Froth

A bit of froth to top things off…

Did You Know? Winchester is home to the Winchester School of Art, founded in 1870 and now part of the University of Southampton - a small campus with global influence that has produced figures like Brian Eno.

Brain Teaser: I am not alive, but I can grow. I don’t have lungs, but I need air. What am I? Last week’s answer: Quarry.

Till next time,
