☕️ Welcome to the Brew
Welcome to the very first issue of Winchester Brew!
Thanks for signing up - I’m really glad you’re here.
I started this because I kept having the same conversation: “I wish I’d known about that gig… I didn’t even realise that shop had opened… Why didn’t anyone tell me this was happening?” Winchester and the surrounding villages are bursting with culture - food, art, theatre, music, shopping - but too often it slips under the radar.
That’s where Winchester Brew comes in. Every week you’ll get a quick, curated guide to the best events in the next seven days, not just in the city but across the local area, plus the occasional spotlight on a big happening or a new business opening. No endless scrolling, no FOMO.
Take a look at what’s on this week below - and if you know someone who’d appreciate it, please forward this email and invite them to subscribe. The more people in the loop, the stronger our community’s cultural buzz becomes.

Did You Know? A Diver Saved the Cathedral: Winchester Cathedral, one of the largest in Europe, was built on a boggy foundation. In the early 20th century, it was in danger of collapsing. A diver named William Walker worked for six years, going into the flooded crypt to underpin the entire east end of the building with concrete. His extraordinary work saved the cathedral from certain collapse. There is a statue of him outside the cathedral to commemorate his efforts.
Riddle Me This: I am always hungry, I must always be fed, the finger I lick will soon turn red. What am I? (answer next week)
Number Puzzle: Using exactly four "4s" and any mathematical operators (like +, -, x, /, etc.), can you create the number 20?
