☕️ Welcome to the Brew
January in Winchester has been doing that thing where it’s technically “daytime” but everything still looks like it’s been put through a grey filter. The antidote this week is unapologetically bright: the Van Gogh exhibition at Winchester Science Centre, complete with a genuinely massive sunflower display (4,381 of them, for anyone who enjoys big numbers and bigger petals).
Beyond that, it’s a wonderfully mixed bag out there: sharp theatre and big laughs, talks that go from local history to the psychology of trauma (and serial killers, if you like your curiosity with a side of chills), live music across town, film nights in secret-ish rooms, plus hands-on workshops, choirs, yoga, and even a home match to shout at in the fresh air.
As always, if you know of an event coming up that should be on Winchester’s radar, send it our way. A link and the basics (what, where, when, price) is perfect, and we’ll do our best to include it in a future issue.

Did You Know? The letters in “Winchester” add up to 19 points in Scrabble - before any bonus squares. And if you managed to play it using all seven of your tiles, you’d likely pocket the extra 50-point bonus too. As for whether it’s “legal”… we’ll leave that argument to your dictionary (and your opponents).
Brain Teaser: A bus has 12 passengers. At the next stop 5 get off and 2 get on. How many people are on the bus? Last week’s answer: The letter E.
